Dennis Mugaa, a writer from Meru, Kenya, achieved critical acclaim with his remarkable writing. In 2022, he clinched the prestigious Black Warrior Review Fiction Contest. His work has also been recognised with shortlisting for the Isele Magazine’s Short Story Prize and the Afritondo Short Story Prize in 2021.

Mugaa’s stories have been featured in renowned literary publications, including Jalada Africa, Lolwe, Isele Magazine, and Washington Square Review. Currently pursuing an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia as a recipient of the Miles Morland Foundation Scholarship. “Half Portraits Underwater” is his first collection of short stories.
