When Anthony Mukoro was a child, he and his brother Oro and childhood friend Zara make a fateful decision to go into a forest in their town, Aviara. Thirteen years later, Anthony is dying from a terminal illness and he returns home to tell his parents. Unknown to him, this begins a journey that will lead him to explore the debris of his childhood memories, the limits of his body and the very depths of his soul.

Aviara is a novel with many interwoven themes. It explores the fine balance between science and spirituality, ancestry and purpose. It is a journey of a man who is on a quest not only to save his own life but to discover his true self.

About Author

Born and raised in Southern Nigeria, Othuke is a writer, poet and dramatist. A graduate of Computer Science from the University of Benin, Nigeria, he writes, dredging from experiences and influences from the land of his birth.

To his name is Odufa, a play that got him shortlisted for the Wole Soyinka prize for Literature. Odufa: A Lover’s Tale, his first novel, also got shortlisted for the Association of Nigerian Author’s Prize for Prose Fiction and the Grand Prix of Literary Associations in Cameroun. He is the author of the acclaimed novel, A Conspiracy of Ravens, and his third and latest book, Aviara is set to be released in 2019.
